Coronavirus – IFTC Committee update 22nd May 2020

We’re pleased to say that we’re now ready to open the club to restricted social play.

All social play must be pre-booked, for a maximum period of 45 minutes.  Please do not turn up if you do not have a confirmed booking.

Courts 1 & 3 will be bookable, except when one court is in use for coaching.  Court 2 is out-of-bounds, to help maintain social distancing.

At this time, booking is strictly for 2019/20 members only (until such time as 2020/21 membership renewals have been processed - application form now in the membership zone here).  Members can make a booking by following the instructions in the email sent out today.

Please note that absolutely no non-member guests are allowed at this time, and that social play is for 2 people per court only (singles), except where members of the same household are playing.

1-2-1 Coaching has resumed, and Nick & Josh will be available to take bookings, which for now will be on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 0900 and 1400, plus some sessions on Saturdays.  Sessions will be of 50 minutes duration to enable there to be a 10-minute gap so that people can come and go without crossing each other’s paths, i.e. 0900-0950,1000-1050,1100-1150,1200-1250,1300-1350.

Please read the LTA guidelines for players (links below and above). In particular, ensure you have your own racket, bring your own hand sanitiser and maintain social distancing rules at all times. If you are going to do serving practice, please ensure you bring your own balls with you.

•The clubhouse will remain locked and out-of-bounds.  Wash hands and if necessary use the loo at home before / after tennis.  Bring your own hand sanitiser.  The outside tap is available for hand washing at the club.

•The gate between Court 3 and Courts 1 & 2 is locked.   Those playing on Court 3 should enter and leave by the Court 3 gate.  Those playing on Court 1 should enter & leave by the main gate.

•The First-Aid box has been placed outside the clubhouse.

•Do not attempt to adjust the net heights – these are pre-set at the correct height.

•For social play you must use your own tennis balls, ideally marked with your initials, and not touch anyone else’s (apart from with your feet or racket).  Maintain social distancing by not changing ends in the usual way or, alternatively, changing ends at the opposite sides of the net.  No handshaking, high-fives etc.

•Keep your bag at least 2m away from others’ bags.

•Clean and wipe down your equipment and possessions before and after play.  Make sure you take all your belongings with you when you leave.

•No extra-curricular or social activity should take place.  Do not sit on any chairs or benches.  Try to avoid touching gates and fences etc. if you can.

All rules and procedures will be kept under review, with regard to any updated advice from the LTA.
