8th June 2019 - We hold a very special exhibition day, featuring top GB professional Marcus Willis (who memorably played Roger Federer at Wimbledon in 2016). The day included coaching for the junior performance squad, a “Q&A” session, ball signing, an exhibition set of singles v IFTC’s own Nick Hilder, doubles masterclasses, BBQ, raffle and a spot-the-ball competition. Some photos of the day are now in Gallery pages 20 & 21.
June 2019 - Repairs are carried out to the higher fencing at the rear of Court 3.
17th May - The Planning Inspectorate has rejected our appeal re the floodlighting application, on the grounds of detriment to the nearest residents. In due course we will examine options for alternative improvements to the club facilities.
12th May - A successful "Adults & Kids" mini-tennis event took place, with Suzanne Emond & Odhran Whitfield triumphant.
28th Febuary - Club AGM
5th December 2018 - Juniors' Xmas Meal is held at "The Lounge".
21st October - The 12th annual charity Pink event takes place and raises a record amount.
8th & 9th September - A successful Club Finals' weekend with all 10 finals enjoying warm and dry weather.
17 July - As many of you are aware, the Club has been developing proposals for floodlighting of the courts in the darker evenings. In March, Ingatestone & Fryerning Community Association (IFCA) made an application for planning permission for floodlighting. At its meeting on 17 July, Brentwood Borough Council’s Planning Committee overwhelmingly rejected the application on the grounds floodlighting would be harmful to the living conditions of residents. An appeal to the Planning Inspectorate was submitted in December 2018.
8 July - A successful Club Open Day took place. Several dozen visitors enjoyed coaching, cardio tennis, a BBQ, speed of serve competition, ball machine drills, a raffle and a fun doubles tournament to round off the day. Photos in Gallery - page 17.
28 & 29 March - Drainage works are completed. It is hoped that we now have a permanent solution to our flooding problems.
February 2017: Co-op Community Card Scheme
As some of you may have seen from our Facebook page, the tennis club has signed up to the Co-op card scheme (see details attached), and Charlotte has cards for any of you who would like one. If you shop in any Co-op branch, including Quadrant in Chelmsford, for every pound spent the club gets points which can be cashed for fundraising activities. Co-op even donates 50% on top. Doesn't cost you anything!
See the historical archive for all our older news stories (under "About Us").
The button shows the club calendar of events for 2019 (some provisional).
STOCK CLEARANCE - Club T-Shirts & Sweatshirts - minimum donation £2 / £5 respectively. They're going fast.
Dear Club members and supporters
We have been trying unsuccessfully to find a contractor to lay paving slabs between the Clubhouse and the courts (approx 6m x 3.5m). We would like to get this work done as soon as possible. It’s a fairly straightforward job but will involve removing the grass surface, levelling out and laying the slabs. Do you know of anyone who has done similar work that might be able to undertake this at a reasonable rate? If so, please let us have their contact details.
